Yuletide Season

Christmas - one of the most exquisite commemoration to the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ. Also in this special event, caroling of children to every doorstep, parties, reunions, hang-outs and other more. Across the globe, different countries, at the same time, celebrating christmas.

Here in the Philippines, we have diverse traditions on how to celebrate the yuletide season. Let us start on culture. All Catholics are encouraged to attend the 9 consecutive nights of Rooster’s Mass from December 15 till 24 of midnight. They believe that when they complete the 9 consecutive nights attending the mass, their wishes will become true. Also, they must wear red shirt if they complete the 9 nights.

The abundance of food on every table of the family, from salads to pastas, sauces to soups, and sticky and sweet delicacies. Some of these sweets are commonly sold at outside churches are bibingka, puto bumbong, and hot chocolate. These local and traditional foods makes the Christmas the best celabration before the end of each year.

Exchanging of gifts is common to every people here in the Philippines, this simple tradition today called by many people as, “Monito - Monita”, exchanging of gifts to someone that you picked. You will see tha delightfulness in your heart when you receive gifts. Especially when it comes from your very close loved one, like boyfriend, girlfriend, crush, best friend, family, relatives, classmates, officemates, and even your enemies.

Caroling everynight at every doorstep likes to sing carols to every houses, just to receive money from the household. Unfortunately, some of these children, who sings carols everynight, receive only the tagline, ’sorry’. But these children dont loose hope just to receive small amount of money from their caroling.

The cold winds of december makes the season more merrier and gay. Jackets, sweaters, sweatshirts, and ‘jamas are all commonly seen every night. Each dawn of the day, this cold winds will kill your silent sleeping.
